DATÇA - CENTER

You can find everything you are looking for in Datça city center. There are shops, pensions, banks, restaurants and cafes. It has a cordon along the coast where you can enjoy sea smell and walk around. Those who want to swim in the sea in the center, Kumluk beach is available. The beach has a calm water. Along the beach there are small cafes and restaurants. You should definitely look at the taste of olive oil dishes.

OLD DATÇA

Stone streets, stone houses .. A quiet and peaceful place in Begonvilles. It is only 2.5 km away from Datça Center. When you arrive, you will not have ttouble with parking lot and you want to come again already. You can see the Can Yücel street and Can Yücel’s house (not a museum, someone else lives there) and the his left-over wine in the coffe house at the square. Many houses are used as apartments and cafes.

AMAZING BAYS AND WATERSIDE THICKETS

When you are going from Marmaris to Datça, there are beautiful blue bays are waiting for you. Because Datça is a peninsula, you will see the sea view on your right and your left as well. On the way, you will be accompanied by sea views. There are 52 bays and waterside thickets on the peninsula. If you are traveling around Datça with bikes, we recommend you to have all of the equipment you need for your tent, barbecue, diving.

The beauty of nature will allure your mind and your heart. Spend plenty of time to visit the bays and waterside thickets. Some of them are stony, some of them are thin sandy. Do not forget to visit the villages between those waterside thickets.

AN ANCIENT CITY ''KNİDOS''

It is 35 km away from Datça center, 110 km from Marmaris. Those who want to go without a their car, can use minibuses and sea taxis to Knidos from Datça. It is the most important port city where Aegean and Mediterranean cross eachother. You will see the beautiful scenery from the hills. The city’s roots goes back to the B.C.14th century.

History of Knidos

In the times of Karia civilization, this place was the most important port city of civilization. The area has traces of Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine periods and many historical ruins.
There were two ports, military and commercial. Important buildings and areas in the ruins are: Dor Temple, Apollo Temple andthe Altar, Round Temple and Altar, Parliament Building, Temple of Corinth, sundial that shows time and date, Theater, Dionysus Temple and its Stoa, Slope Houses, Odeon, Demeter Sanctuary, Necropolis and Kap Crio Peninsula.
Charles came here in 1850 and conducted excavations and took high value things to the UK. All the artifacts he carried, today they are exhibited at the British Museum.

Things You Need To Know

Knidos Ancient City entrance fee is 10TL and you can pass free if you have a museumcard. It is open between 08:00 - 19:00 in the summer and 08:00 - 17:00 in the winter. As you travel to the ancient city of Knidos, which is at the end of Datça, the roads are paved but you need to be careful because it is curved. Passing of two cars can be difficult in the some parts of the road.
