MARMARIS CASTLE AND ARCHAEOLOGY MUSEUM

One of the must sees in the city center is the Marmaris Castle. It is located in Marmaris Castle Kemeraltı Neighbourhood which was built in B.C. 2000. It was built by the Ionians but the current castle was built in 1522 by the Ottomans (Suleyman the Magnificent). The museum exhibits historical remains in the surrounding areas of Knidos, Burgazada and Hisaronu. In addition, the beauty of Marmaris will satisfy your eyes.

Marmaris Castle is very important because it provides a passage between the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean Sea. Marmaris Castle, which was restored between 1980 and 1990, has been serving as the Archaeological Museum since 1991. Several exhibitions are exhibited belongin to Protohistoric ages from the Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine and Republic periods in the closed spaces of exhibition halls in Kalenin and also in the open air exhibit areas.

THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

The museum can be visited from 08:00 am to 5:00 pm in all days except Monday. The entrance fee to Marmaris Castle and Archeology Museum is 8 TL and the museum card is valid.
