We do not have much fishing experience. And if we look back at our life in Istanbul, we were not able to do that either. But when we started living in Icmeler in Marmaris, we chose fishing as our hobby. We jump on our bikes and come to the beach to learn how to catch fish. In this time, we have developed ourselves. At least we do not forget to take the bells off while we are throwing the fishing rod.
We shared our curiosity with our friends. Izzet, who is quite older than us, invited us to fish. There is a boat that he organizes private boat tours for 8-10 people. He is taking his guest to Marmaris bays. He ensures that his guests to spend pleasant and enjoyable minutes during day. When the season is over, he devotes his time to himself and his family. One day he called us and said, “I am going out for fishing, would you join?” we immediately said “of course” and we went out to fishing at 8 o’clock in the next morning. We understood how peaceful were the words of “we are out for fishing” and “we are fishing” and they are actually filled with joy, fun and tranquility.
İzzet Abi (Brother), with all his patience showed and tried to teach how to catch fish with fishing rod, how to keep the fish, how to prepare the fish bait, how to understand if the fish came. We were good students, we solved the mechanism, and with a little luck we had 26 red bouge fish, 1 red sea bream, 1 hani fish. We went at 8:00 in the morning and returned at 17:00. We do not even know how time passed. Being on the sea is a really different feeling. It is necessary to look away while enjoying the fishing and gazing at the crystal clear sea in order to enjoy the nature and calm down. Something like therapy. We are not satisfied with this much. Let’s see how our next fishing adventure will be.
Now we have social network here where we come as knowing no one. We meet with our friends, we drink tea in the gardens with our elder brothers and sisters. We were invited to the activity of Marmaris Turkish Folk Music Choir and Folklore Foundation on 18th March. The songs were beautiful. We were signing too and we took the photos of the choir and handed them over to them. Ataturk’s favorite folk songs were remembered once again.
All of our habits have changed. These changes started with cycling in the mornings with the clear air. It seems the clean air in Icmeler makes you cleaned. We took our bikes out of the house around 8 am in the morning, buy some bagels from bakery and ayran (drink version of yogurt) from market. Then we arrived to the beach. We have put our towels onto the sand close to the sea and enjoy the most beautiful start of the day in the most beautiful place.
We started to the year 2017 with a spontaneous Christmas plan. As we swimmed in the sea in December in Icmeler, we met with elder sister and brother. This very sympathetic couple has just settled in Icmeler just like us. We talked about our Christmas plan and we said we did not have a plan. These lady and gentleman have asked us to join them. They said that they reserved a hotel called Ortaca Stone House in Ortaca and planned a super organization. We were wondering about Ortaca since we have’nt been there. With a little research on the internet, we joined them. And met them on 31 December: D
It was really had a great restaurant, great live music, and of course great food: D It was a super evening. We ate a lot and drank plenty much. 😀 We met with new people. At 4 am we ended up having fun and turned back to our rooms. You need to see the decoration of the rooms. As the name implies, the walls of the house are like stone walls. The rooms are designed just like the old village houses. We went downstairs in the morning to have an amazing super breakfast. I tried the village cheeses, the village jams and the tastes I did not know before.
We had breakfast immediately and left there after giving thanks to the owners of the place. We would not have been able to go to a Dalyan tour when we arrived here. We immediately agreed with a little sightseeing boat and were started to enjoy with the beauty of nature. We passed through the reeds to the beach of Dalyan Iztuzu. This is a private beach 5 thousand 400 meters long where the caretta caretta turtles come to lay eggs. On this world-famous beach, a safe area for turtles has been created. The sea is shallow and has a velvety sand on the floor. It is incredibly enjoyable to swim and play water games here: D
We cannot enjoy today because of our worries regarding tomorrow. After all, we cannot enjoy now or the future. That’s what we felt exactly. We wanted to get away from the complexity of Istanbul and all its negativenesss. One day, we went to Marmaris for a documentary film shooting. Besides the wonderful nature views, the smile of people and the life quality of the people affected us very much. We moved to Icmeler in Marmaris exactly 2 weeks later and got married here with a wonderful wedding ceremony :). We continue to run our advertising agency (Seyyar Agency) here.
We went to Istanbul for our marriage procedures and then we finished our documentation works at the municipality of Marmaris and we finally got our marriage day and we were ready for the preparations. We organized an invitation for 120 people on the Dogan Güneş Aladdin Captain’s boat: D We set up a hotel where all our cousins, our uncles and aunts can accommodate and invited them. Our minds were busy with crazy questions; How will the people come, how to get to the boat, how to get back to the hotel after getting on the boat, how to arrange food and drinks on the boat, how to decorate the boat like? With the help of our friends, everything went smoothly. The entertainment started at 4:00 pm and ended at 12:00 pm (we played a lot and we never sat down: D). We would like to thank everyone who was with us that day. We would like to thank you to Muhsin Cesur, Selman Pekiyi, Sima Pekiyi for taking photos and videos and, Tuncay Zeybek, Tuğba Zeybek, Sır Büşra Yavuzer, Bedri Bulut and Ahmet Yavuzer for checking everything and solving problems.
